Salzburg Alpine Path in Forstau

On the Salzburg Almenweg, everyday life stays behind in the valley. It is one of the most beautiful long-distance hiking trails in the Alps. On 25 stages, around 120 alpine pastures in Salzburg's Pongau region invite you to stop for a leisurely break and, of course, for culinary refreshment with hearty alpine specialties. Starting from the Oberhütte (stage 25), the Salzburger Almenweg follows the alpine road for about 100 meters and then leads along a path to the left along the Oberhüttenbach stream, which remains a companion for a long time. It goes steadily downhill to the farmed and beautifully situated Vögeialm (1,356 meters). Along the Forstaubach stream you will reach the entrance to the Forstau Winkl alpine pasture area and the Winklhütte snack station. From there it is about 4km to the center of Forstau. The alpine path continues over the Heimlscharte and the Predigtstuhl in the direction of Radstadt.
